The Coyotes broke the game open with a 10-0 run, powered by kills from Madison Jurgens and Hayley Dotseth. The run was too much for the Bears to overcome and the first set went to South Dakota 25-15.

UNC hit back with a 6-1 run and was within two of the Coyotes at 12-10. A 5-2 run from South Dakota would give them a cushion at 17-12 that they wanted to maintain until the end of the match. In Their Words
Lyndsey Oates, Head Coach
"We developed and got better today, but we are not developing quick enough in key areas. Our outside hitters are much better then what they showed today. South Dakota is a very good defensive team, especially from the back row. But we have to find ways to score more efficiently. It was really a match of runs where teams got stuck in weak rotations and we just could not get out of them quick enough. We have to stay more balanced and find ways to score when it's not the ideal situation."
Game Changer
Northern Colorado had 23 attack errors and seven from the service line that were difficult to overcome. South Dakota had 17 attack errors and four service errors. Â
All-Tournament Team
Kortney Lockey was named to the South Dakota Classic All-Tournament team, after ranking second in the tournament with four kills per set, 44 total. Lockey also was sixth in the tournament with 3.36 digs per set. In the tournament, Lockey recorded two double-doubles against Cal(16 kills & 17 Digs) and South Dakota (13 kills & 12 digs). South Dakota's Hayley Dotseth earned MVP for the tournament after leading the weekend with 4.36 kills per set and ranking fifth in digs with 3.82 per set.
