UNC baseball's win streak was snapped on Wednesday by Nebraska
Nebraska, scored three runs in the first as they strung together three straight hits following a hit by pitch. They then blew the game open on Schreiber's first home run of the game with a grand slam to make it 7-0.
The Bears scratched across a run in the fourth when Matt Zoba, hit a two-out single to left field scoring Jack Pauley. Pauley had led off the inning with a single to right center to get on base. The game stayed at 7-1 until the bottom of the sixth. That's when Schreiber hit his second long ball of the day, this one a two-run shot.
Matt Burkart responded for UNC in the top of the seventh with his third home run of the year. It was a solo homer to make it 9-2, but that would end the scoring for the day for the Bears. Nebraska added on five more runs in the eighth to put away the game.
Game Changer
Nebraska's Scott Schreiber's bat ended any possible comeback for UNC on Wednesday as he broke the game open with his grand slam and then put it away with a two-run home run. He finished the day 3-for-4 with four runs scored and six RBI.
Stat to Know
UNC had its opportunities to work on a comeback, but left 11 runners on base. The team went 0-for-3 with the bases loaded and 2-for-17 with a runner on base.
Game Notes
- Matt Burkart tied teammates Brett Minnick and Cole Maltese for the team lead in home runs at three.
- Evan Johnson was the lone Bear with a multi-hit game as he had two of the team's five hits in the game.

Northern Colorado heads to the west coast for the weekend to face UC Davis for a four-game series starting on Friday at 3:30 pm MT.
