UNC women's golf shot a sold opening round at the Ron Moore DU Invite
HIGHLANDS RANCH – Northern Colorado women's golf started its second event of the week on Friday, competing in the Ron Moore DU Invitational at the University of Denver Golf Club at Highlands Ranch. The Bears, coming off a third-place finish at the Rose City Collegiate, sit in 11th place in a loaded field after round one. UNC shot a 304, two-strokes out of top 10 as Ole Miss and Tulane are tied for ninth.
After a top 10 finish in the Rose City Collegiate, Beah Cruz is out to another strong start with an opening round 74. Cruz, shot 1-over on both nines, putting a trio of birdies on her scorecard to lead the Bears. The 74, puts her in a tie for 17th on the individual leaderboard.
Marisa Hisaki is just one stroke behind Cruz through the first 18 holes, shooting a 3-over 75. Hisaki is tied for 27th. She finished her round strong with birdies on the third and ninth hole after teeing off on the back nine.
UNC rounded out its lineup with Morgan Sahm, Nicole Polivchak and Jenna Chun, while Hanna Atkins is competing as an individual. Sahm shot an opening round 77, while Polivchak and Atkins finished with a 78. Chen, struggled at times during her round, shooting an 82.
Colorado State leads the tournament as the only team under par with a 2-under 286 on Friday.
