Recap: @UNC_TrackFIeld Competes Well at Air Force Invite

Northern Colorado's indoor track and field team continued to improve during the Air Force Invite
USAFA, Colo. – Northern Colorado track and field saw a fair amount of success at the Air Force Invite last weekend, as nine athletes earned spots in the semifinals of track events, while three moved onto the finals.
Alex Ayers ended up with the best finish for UNC taking second in the 400m. Ayers and teammate Antonio Coates advance to the two section finals of the 400m with times of 49.68 and 49.96, respectively on Friday. Ayers ran his final heat in a time of 49.44 to finish second behind only Nebraska's Sam Bransby (48.33).
For the women, Alicia Thompson had the best finish of the weekend at a third place in the 1-mile run. She ran the 5280 feet in a swift time of 5:18.49. Alaina Anderson also ran in the race, ending up sixth with a time of 5:37.46.
Cammy Sargent continues her strong season by finishing fourth in the 400m in a time of 56.74, after qualifying for the finals by running a 57.05 the previous day.
In the 60m hurdles, a quartet of Bears qualified for the semifinals in Semay Johnson (8.94), Amanda Andrews (9.02), Makenzie Pettit (9.20) and Claire Harris (9.37). Johnson ended up going to the finals when she ran an 8.82 and then finished sixth by crossing the line in 8.86 seconds during the finals.
On the track side, Kelsi Schuetz was the other Bear to make it to the finals of a race in the 200m, ending up finishing eighth by running a 25.84.
???????Alivia Ayres-Perry, Schuetz and Johnson qualified for the 60m semis, but none moved onto the finals.
On the field side, Rayvon Solomon had the best finish for the team with a triple jump of 14.26m (46' 9 ½").
The Bears next meet of the indoor season is on February 1 at the University of Colorado Invite in Boulder.
