UNC baseball's Jack Pauley earned a second team spot on the All-WAC team
MESA, Ariz. - The Western Athletic Conference announced the 2017 All-WAC baseball team Tuesday night at the Opening Ceremony for the WAC Tournament beginning on Wednesday.
Northern Colorado's Jack Pauley was selected to the second team All-WAC as an outfielder. The redshirt sophomore leads the Bears in batting average (.335) and RBIs (43). During WAC play, he was again the team leader in batting average hitting .333, along with a team-best in doubles (11) and triples (2). Pauley is the fourth Bear to receive an All-WAC award, following Jensen Park (MVP, 1st Team) and Brandon Vaughn (2nd Team) in 2015, and Nick Tanner (2nd Team) last year.
Along with announcing the All-WAC team, the individual awards for the season were handed out. Those awards included Player of the Year, Pitcher of the Year, Freshman of the Year and Coach of the Year. Two of the four awards went to Grand Canyon in Player and Coach of the Year. Outfielder Garrison Schwartz earned Player of the Year, and head coach Andy Stankiewicz the Coach of the Year after winning the WAC with a 20-4 record. Pitcher of the Year went to CSU Bakersfield's Max Carter, and Freshman of the Year to Sacramento State's pitcher Parker Brahms.
Norther Colorado begins WAC Tournament play on Wednesday against Utah Valley at 4 pm MT.
