Shaky control dooms @NCBearsBaseball

Northern Colorado loses the series after falling 12-3 to Grand Canyon.
How it Happened
Troy Watson struggles with his command began in the first inning after issuing walks to two of the first three hitters. The problems continued in the second when Marc Mumper hit a three-run homer off of Watson to give Grand Canyon an early 3-0 lead. Watson ended in the third inning after he walked the first batter of the inning, which would be his fifth of the game. Dylan Shiraki came in to Watson.
The Bears would get on the board in the third after Tyler Yamaguchi smashed a solo home run to left field and gave UNC their first run of the series.
Grand Canyon's offense struke for three more runs again in the fourth, including a couple of two-out RBIs off of Shiraki. The Bears struggled for the second straight day to get runners on base. Grand Canyon starter Jake Repavich retired 12 consecutive Bears after Tyler Yamaguchi's home run in the third.
Grand Canyon broke the game wide open in the sixth inning by plating six runs and pushing the score to 12-1. The Antelopes recorded five hits and draw two more walks in the inning. They were able to continue and produce timely hits with two outs that plagued the Bears all day.
After the big inning for Grand Canyon, the Bears were at risk of a short day with the deficit being greater than 10 before the seventh inning. The Bears were able to avoid the 10-run rule after finally getting to Repavich with back-to-back doubles from Nick Tanner and Alex Kiel with two outs in the top of the seventh. An error by Grand Canyon's second baseman, Austin Bull, allowed the Bears to score another run and close the score to 12-3. Keenan Pate was able to keep the Antelopes off the scoreboard in the bottom of the seventh to keep the game going.
Although the game continued, UNC was unable to produce much more even after Repavich departed in the eighth. The Bears were held to just one hit over the final two innings by Grand Canyon's bullpen.
Game Changer
Grand Canyon's offense was on display Saturday producing 12 runs on 15 hits. The Antelopes were 7-20 with runners in scoring position, and 5-13 with two outs that lead to 5 runs. UNC's pitching staff struggled with their control all day and surrendered 10 walks compared to only eight strikeouts. Jake Rapavich was not as sharp as Jake Wong was on Friday, but still had a strong outing going 7 innings, giving up three runs, with only two being earned.
Notes
• Tyler Yamaguchi hit his second home run of the year in the third inning off of Repavich
• Although Grand Canyon's offense was effective, they did leave 15 men on base for the day.
• Jack Pauley extended his hit streak to five games, which ties his season best.
• Grand Canyon starters have given up 2 runs in 14 innings pitched so far in the series.
