Seely places eighth for @UNCBearsWrestle at the Cliff Keen Invitational

Jacob Seely ended his tournament with an eighth place finish in the 197 lb class
LAS VEGAS, Nev.- Jacob Seely finished the Cliff Keen Invitational placing eighth in the 197 lb weight class and the lone placer for Northern Colorado wrestling.

Seely started his day by pulling an upset over No. 3 Kevin Beazley from Michigan with a 10-8 decision. Beazley made a late run at Seely with a two-point take down, but Seely was able to respond with one of his own to secure the win. Next up was Jacob Holschlag from Northern Iowa, but Seely was unable to finish the match due to an injury. Holschlag won by injury default after the referee called the match at 6:39. Seely was then unable to compete in the seventh place match and ended up with the eighth place finish.

Jimmy Fate wrestled earlier in the 149 lb weight consolation bracket and dropped a tough 12-7 decision to Josh Maruca from Arizona State. Maruca had the lead early, but Fate scored a pair of takedowns to keep the match interesting.

Northern Colorado finished 28th at the Cliff Keen Invitational with 26 points, four points ahead of conference foe Iowa State and one point behind Eastern Michigan.

UNC wrested well at the Cliff Keen Invitational and showed good progress from the beginning of the season. The Bears are young and can use this experience to grow as the season progresses.
