Preview: @UNCBearsWrestle takes on Northwestern in first dual of the season

Northern Colorado hosts the Wildcats at Legacy High School
GREELEY, Colo.- Northern Colorado wrestling looks to pick up a win in its first dual of the season against Big 10 foe Northwestern Sunday afternoon. The dual is hosted by UNC at Legacy High School in Broomfield, Colo. on Sunday, Dec. 10 at 2 pm.

After spending two days at the Cliff Keen Invitational last weekend, UNC will get to compete closer to home to begin its dual schedule. Jacob Seely placed eighth in the 197 lb weight class at Cliff Keen and is currently ranked No. 19 by trackwrestling.com. Seely has performed well in all three of UNC's tournaments so far this season, winning two championships on top of placing in Las Vegas.

Jimmy Fate [149] did not place at Cliff Keen but wrestled well throughout the competition. Following a loss in the round of 64, Fate won four matches in the consolation bracket to advance to the second day of the tournament. Fate lost in his first match of the day against Josh Maruca of Arizona State.

Both Keilan Torres and Dylan Gabel are also ranked by trackwrestling.com, with Torres at No. 23 and Gabel coming in at No. 25.

UNC will be tested in the first dual of the season against a Northwestern team that is receiving votes in the USA Today/National Wrestling Coaches Association poll.

Scouting Northwestern
Northwestern is 3-0 in duals this season, with wins over Gardner-Webb, Old Dominion, and Maryland. The Wildcats finished second at the Keystone Classic and had 12 placers from their team. The roster for Northwestern has three ranked wrestlers including No. 12 Sebastian Rivera, No. 18 Mitch Sliga, and No. 9 Ryan Deakin. Northwestern currently sits at second in the Big 10, behind No. 1 Ohio State.
