Opening Tip
In Spight We Trust
Senior Andre Spight is leading the team in both points per game (20.7) and rebounding (6.0). Those numbers place him fourth for points per game and 12th in rebounding in the Big Sky. He is on pace to score 629 points this season which will put him second all-time in the UNC record book for points scored in a season.
Moving on Up
Junior guard Jordan Davis is in the top 10 of 10 different categories in the UNC Division I record books. With 935 points after the game at Pepperdine, if he averages what he did in 2016-17 (19.3 ppg), he will eclipse the 1,000 mark before Christmas. Davis also can move into first in assists in Division I history for UNC this season. He totaled 162 assists in 2016-17 and if he equals that mark this year, he will be in first place all-time. Davis would surpass Tevin Svihovec, who recorded 331 in his UNC career (2010-2015).
Putting the FREE in Free Throw
Junior Jonah Radebaugh is leading the Big Sky in free throw percentage with a perfect 1.000, having not missed on his six attempts this season.
Last Time Out
Northern Colorado was victorious over the Pepperdine Waves Friday night, 84-82. Redshirt senior guard Andre Spight scored a career high 23 points in the win. It was all about the guards against the Waves as Spight, Anthony Johnson and Jordan Davis combined for 56 of the team's 84. UNC's bench contributed heartily with 22 points (15 from Johnson). In the previous two matchups, the Bears' bench scored only 18 points. Northern Colorado captured the win because of free-throw shooting, toeing the line 37 times and hitting 25. Johnson placed the most critical shots in the last minute to ice the win. The 84 points by the Bears is the most given up by the Waves this season.
Two Years in a Row
Northern New Mexico (NNMC) and Northern Colorado have played just once prior to tonight's matchup, with the Bears topping the Eagles 97-73 on December 3, 2016. Current Bears Jordan Davis, Chaz Glotta and Ibrahim Sylla combined for 44 points while DJ Miles led the way with 20.
Scouting Northern New Mexico
The Bears make a quick turnaround and head to Sioux Falls, South Dakota for the Sanford Pentagon Showcase. UNC plays three games in three days starting Friday, November 24. Their opponents: Youngstown State, Southern Mississippi and South Dakota.
UNC then travels to UC Davis November 29 for a rematch with the Aggies before returning to Bank of Colorado Arena for a three-game stretch. That home stand opens Sunday, December 3, when the Bears host Head Coach Jeff Linder's alma mater, Western State, at 5 pm following a UNC women's game versus Pacific. Single game tickets are just $3 each in advance at UNCBears.com.
