Schulte, Kreutzer Shine in Bears Loss to Colorado

BOULDER, Colorado- In women's tennis, the Bears got a pair of wins in singles but dropped their first match of the spring 5-2 to Colorado on Saturday afternoon in Boulder. Senior Courtney Shulte had a strong match as she picked up a two-set win at No. 4 singles for the Bears defeating Chloe Hule of Colorado 7-5, 6-2.
Sophomore Lily-Ana Kreutzer was another highlight for the Bears in the match. She went the distance at the No. 6 singles, eventually defeating Kyrra Wojcik of Colorado 6-3, 2-6, 1-0 (10-5). Kreutzer's win in a third set super-tiebreaker meant the Bears were able to improve their record from last season against Colorado. Last season, the Bears were defeated by Colorado 6-1. The energy and high competitive level the Bears showed were sentiments head coach Brenda Gallegos echoed in her post-match comments.
"It was a great first match of the season. We fought hard and really showed our determination. I am really looking forward to our future matches. This team is determined to do well!"
Northern Colorado women's tennis will be back in action on January 28th when they return to Greeley, taking on Colorado State University, Pueblo at 10:00am.
