UNC volleyball fell to North Florida 3-1 Friday evening
HOUSTON, Texas – Northern Colorado (1-3) competed in its first match away from Bank of Colorado Arena Friday evening falling to North Florida 3-1 (15-25, 23-25, 25-20, 23-25).

How it Happened
Northern Colorado and North Florida (4-2) traded points back and forth early on in the set, splitting the first 12 points. UNF proceeded to go on a 4-0 run to gain a 10-6 lead in the set and never relinquished the lead as the Bears offense struggled, ending up hitting -.100 in the set.
The second set the Bears fell into an early 4-1 deficit, before battling back to take the lead at 14-11. Once the Osprey tied it up at 14, both teams traded mini runs until North Florida closed the set on a 6-4 advantage.
With their backs against the wall, UNC played its best offensive set of the match, and it all started with serving. The Bears had six service aces during the set, including four from Kortney Lockey. It was Lockey's serving that sparked the key 4-1 run during that set. With half of her aces coming duringthe rally the Bears went from being tied at 16 to up 20-17.
Northern Colorado went on to force the fourth set with a 25-20 win.
The fourth set was once again a tight one between the teams, who spilt the first 16 points. UNF looked to have the advantage when they went on a 4-0 run and go up 16-12, but that was not the case.
UNC worked its way back, outscoring the Osprey 8-4 over the next 12 points to hold a 21-20 lead. The teams ended up tied at 23 when UNF had a pair of kills from Carina Hoff to end the match.

North Florida's Carina Hoff led the team's high powered offense on Friday night with 16 kills and a .400 attack percentage. For the match, UNF outhit UNC in the match .291-.199
Notables
- Kortney Lockey continued her strong start to the season for the Bears, leading the team in kills (17) and aces (4), and being tied in digs (13). The four aces are a career high for her.
- Both team's hit very well in the third set as the Bears had a .458 percentage and North Florida hit .526.
- Outside of the first set, UNC it .200 or better for the match.
