Ben Gendron Named Interim Head Coach for @UNCO_MensTennis

UNC Athletics announced the hiring of Ben Gendron as interim head coach for the men’s tennis program.
GREELEY, Colo. – The University of Northern Colorado announced Thursday afternoon the appointment of Ben Gendron as the interim head coach for the men's tennis program.
"We are excited to welcome back a former Bear to the men's tennis program," Athletic Director Darren Dunn said. "He was an extremely talented player on the court during his time at UNC and knows what it takes to be successful. His knowledge of the game, with the already strong connections he has to the team will be a great transition for this team."
Gendron, who was formally a volunteer assistant for the team, takes over after previous head coach Rob Gurden resigned to pursue other career opportunities.
"I am honored and excited to be able to have the opportunity to lead the men's tennis program at Northern Colorado. I had a fantastic four years at UNC during my playing career and I'm looking forward to being able to stay apart of this great community of Greeley," Gendron said. "I'm excited for the talent we have on this team to grow and build a fun and exciting team atmosphere that will allow us to be Big Sky contenders. I want to thank Darren Dunn and the rest of the administration for the opportunity to lead this team."
With the hiring of Gendron, it brings the total of UNC alum as coaches to four, joining the group of Earnest Collins, Jr. (football), Carl Iwasaki (baseball) and Stephen Bidne (women's golf).
Gendron graduated from Northern Colorado in 2015 with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Sports and Exercise Science. As a Bear he was one of the top player's for the men's tennis program. He earned All-Big Sky honors all four years, first team in 2015, second team in 2014 and honorable mention in 2012 and 13.
Originally from Edina, Minnesota, he currently lives in Greeley.
