The Bears finished in a tie for 8th overall.
FINAL RESULTS
BOULDER CITY, Nev. – Northern Colorado completed the Big Sky Championship in a tie for eighth place overall. The team shot a final round of 301 (+13) on Wednesday to finish with a total of 902 (+32), tied with Montana.
Idaho captured the team title with an overall score of 868 (+4), while the Vandals' Sophie Hausmann took the individual title, besting Eastern Washington's Marissa Borja in a playoff.
"Today we just couldn't get anything going on a course that once again was yielding low scores – a lack of confidence in our ball striking seemed to be the story all week," head coach Stephen Bidne recapped. "We were getting off the tee ok, but we had a tough time trusting our incoming shots into the greens causing too many missed greens and bogeys we should have never made."
Senior Amanda Myers was once again good for the Bears lowest round on the afternoon. Myers carded a 73 (+1), completing the 54-hole event with a 224 (+8).
Myers recorded two birdies and 13 pars in the finale. After marking a bogey on hole one, the senior marked 10 straight pars. Her only two bogeys on the back nine came on 11th and 17th, but they were erased by birdies on the 14th and 16th.
Myers finished in the Top 25, tied for 25th overall in the final tournament of her career at Northern Colorado.
Freshman Janet Yeo had the best overall Championship for the team. Yeo came in tied for 21st after her round of 74 (+2). Yeo totaled a 223 (+7) in her three days at the Boulder Creek Golf Club.
She tallied two birdies and 12 pars on the day. Both her birdies came on the front nine, making the turn at even par. She wrote down two bogeys on the back on the 11th and 13th, but scored par on the other seven holes.
"It's disappointing to finish in eighth when we've been one of the top teams in conference all year, but that's conference for you," Bidne added. "It's one tournament that lasts three days and it's up to anyone to show up and play well. Even though we didn't play our best and didn't finish where we wanted, I'm proud about the progress we've made this year and the direction the program is heading in."
Junior Kala Keltz was just one stroke behind Yeo on the last round of the season. Keltz boasted a 75 (+3) to end with a 230 (+14), tying for 37th on the leaderboard.
Keltz had a rough go of it on the front nine with two doubles and a bogey, but recovered with a birdie, heading to the back at +4. Keltz's round improved on the last nine holes, shooting -1 under with back-to-back birdies on the 13th and 14th. Her only bogey on the final nine holes came on the 17th.
Senior Nicole Okada ended the Championship with a 79 (+7). Okada totaled a 232 (+16) placing 44th.
The senior fired +4 on the front nine and completed the back half of the round +3.
Junior Baile Winslow wrapped up play for UNC. Winslow's difficulties came on the front nine, holing three bogeys and a double with a birdie to make the turn at +5.
She completed the back nine with three bogeys and five pars to end the day. Winslow achieved a 235 (+19) after three rounds, tying for 49th.
"We lose two integral players to graduation in Amanda and Nicole – they were wonderful players on and off the course and will truly be missed," Bidne said. "They have done so much for this program and I know they will continue to do great things in the future whether that be in golf or in life. They will always be a part of our Bear Golf family."
All-Big Sky announcements for the women's golf season will be made on Thursday, April 21.
