Northern Colorado fell to Sacramento State 5-1 Saturday
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Northern Colorado baseball dropped the second game of the three game series against Sacramento State Saturday afternoon 5-1. The loss brings UNC's record to 5-18 overall and 0-2 in the WAC, while the Hornets improved to 16-10 overall and 5-0 in conference.
How It Happened
For the second straight day Sacramento State scored a pair in the first inning to go up on the Bears.
The Bears would cut into Sac St's lead in the fourth with an RBI single from Dan Reese that would bring in Cole Maltese who singled to open the inning and advanced to second on a steal.
In the seventh and eighth inning the Hornets added on three more runs to make it a 5-1 game.
Game Changing Moment
With the game at 2-1 going to the bottom of the seventh, Sacramento State's Bronson Grubbs hit a leadoff triple to center field. He would come home on the next at-bat when Chris Lewis hit an RBI single to push the game to 3-1.
