FINAL RESULTS
EL MACERO, Calif. – Northern Colorado men's golf had its best round of the El Macero Classic on Sunday. The Bears carded their first and only sub-300 score coming in with a 294 (+6).

"The guys did a great job of coming out focused and read to go – we were six under par after eleven holes, then struggled a bit coming in, but did make progress again in this event," head coach Roger Prenzlow quoted. "Steven had a solid tournament and Conner was good also. The younger guys need to avoid making mistakes in late rounds, but with their talent they will keep getting better."
Senior Steven Kupcho had another strong day in the finale. Kupcho was good for a 71 (-1), which was his best round of the tournament.
The senior marked four birdies, including three straight on the back nine and 11 pars throughout the day.

Freshman Eric Chen had his best round of the invite as well on Sunday, coming into the clubhouse with a 73 (+1).
After starting out on the 10th, Chen finished his first nine -2 under with three birdies and one bogey. He got into some trouble on the back half of his round after another birdie to push him to -3 under, bogeying four out of his last seven holes to end +1 over.
Chen's 234 (81,80,73) placed him in a tied for 67th overall.

Texas Tech won the Classic, coming in with an 876 (+12). TCU's Ryan Books won medalist honors in a playoff over Oregon State's Kevin Murphy. Both players finished even through 54-holes, but Books earned the top title in a playoff win over Murphy.
"It was nice to beat three Mountain West schools and other teams that we have had trouble with in the past," Prenzlow added. "The Big Sky Championship will be fun and interesting."
