UNC volleyball associate head coach Jenny Glenn was named the head coach at Metro State-Denver
GREELEY, Colo. – Northern Colorado volleyball Associate Head Coach Jenny Glenn was announced as the new head coach at Metro State-Denver on Tuesday.
"I want to thank the entire UNC Athletic Department for making my time in Greeley exceptional. I have had the unbelievable pleasure of working with coaches, athletes, and coworkers who have poured into me and have prepared me to make this next step in my career," Glenn said. "I am so proud to have been a part of the Bears volleyball program for nine years and I cherish my time in Blue and Gold. The Greeley community has embraced this volleyball program and I have absolutely loved getting to know the people who have cheered us on. I look forward to this new opportunity in my career and I thank all those who have made it possible."
Glenn had been with the UNC program for nine years, helping the team grow from its transition to Division I into a constant at the top of the Big Sky. During her time with UNC Glenn, saw the Bears make four appearances to the NCAA Tournament in 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2014. The team also won 20 games five times in those nine years, and she also served as interim coach for the team in 2013 and 2015 when head coach Lyndsey Oates was on maternity leave.
"Jenny is an exceptional coach and we were blessed to keep her for over 9 years at UNC. She is definitely ready to be a head coach and she wanted to stay in Colorado so this is a great fit for her at Metro State," Oates said of her assistant. "I have no doubt that she will continue to advance that program. She is a great recruiter, relates well to the athletes, and is extremely organized. We wish her all the best in this next adventure of her life."
She will be taking over a Metro State program that has qualified for the Division II NCAA Tournament the past 16 seasons.
Oates and the rest of her staff will begin a national search starting immediately to fill the open position.
