Air Force defended its home field against UNC with a 14-7 win on Tuesday
How it Happened
Northern Colorado struck first with a run in the top of the first inning, but Air Force would respond with six in the bottom half of the inning.
Both teams would continue to score in the same innings throughout the game.
Payton Tapia would drive home UNC's second run of the game with an RBI double in the fourth. Air Force would extend its lead to 8-2 by scoring two in the bottom half of the inning.
After six innings Air Force was leading UNC 10-3, when the Bears would close the gap to 10-6 in the seventh. Brett Minnick would get the team within four with his huge three-run home run over the right field wall. It was Minnick's fifth home run of the season.
The Falcons would get one back in the bottom half of the inning and add three more on in the eighth while UNC scored one in the eighth as well.
Game Changing Moment
The moment came early, but it proved to be all Air Force needed, after the Bears went up 1-0 in the top of the first the Falcons responded by batting around and scoring six times in the bottom of the inning, The five run lead was enough for Air Force as they kept the Bears an arm's length away the rest of the game.
Players of the Game
UNC: Brett Minnick continues to be a terror for opposing pitchers to get out. He finished his day going 1-for-3 with a walk and RBI sac fly. Minnick hit his fifth home run of the year along with driving four of the team's seven runs and scoring twice.
Air Force: Bradley Haslam proved why he is in the three hole for Air Force, going 3-for-4 in the game, scoring twice and driving in three runs. His three hits were a single, a double and a triple to go with a walk.
