FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Track and Field opened its 2016 outdoor campaign at the Fum McGraw Quadrangular on Friday. The Bears competed against Colorado State, Colorado and Wyoming.
UNC's best finishes for the men came in the 4x100 and 4x400 relay, the long jump, 200m dash and the 400m hurdles.
Both relay teams were in top form today. The 4x1 team of Isaiah Brown, Alex Wesley, Bryce Adams and Alex Mead brought home a second place finish with a time of 41.51 seconds. As it sits, that is the fastest time in the Big Sky in the young season.
Not to be outdone, the 4x400 squad of Scott Dickinson, Bailey Sexton, Ethan Hitchcock and Connor Vaughn also claimed second place after breaking the tape at 3:41.17.
The men's team took third, fourth, fifth and sixth in the 200m dash with Wesley leading the way. The sophomore sprinted to a 21.71 final time in the event taking third and just missing out on the 21.70 Big Sky qualifying standard.
Jordan Medina was just off Wesley's pace coming in at 21.73 seconds for fourth, while Anthony Powell (21.98) earned fifth and Bryce Adams (22.11) took sixth.
Glen Albright ran as solid race in the 400m hurdles. Albright captured fifth overall breaking the tape in 55.83 seconds.
In the field events, Rolyce Boston looks to once again make the podium at this season's Outdoor Championships. Boston hit the pit 6.50m (21-3.25), good for third place.
The women garnished top finishes in the 100m dash and hurdles, 200m, 400m, distance and both relay events.
Claire Harris got the meet going with a bang. Harris came in fourth in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.72 seconds, just missing out on the league's qualifying standards. Her time also cracked the program's Top 10 list as the 10th best time in school history.
UNC's indoor conference champion, Moriah Zachary transitioned into the outdoor season with ease. Zachary sprinted to second place finish in the 100m dash after crossing the line in 12.11 seconds. She too just missed out on the qualifying standard of 12.00 seconds, but now owns the fifth best time in the event in Northern Colorado history.
Continuing with the sprints, Alisha Allen posted a time of 25.96 seconds in the 200m, good for fifth, while Cammy Sargent took fourth in the 400m breaking the tape in 57.97 seconds, taking fourth overall.
Both relay teams for the women were on point on Friday. The 4x1 unit of Brianna Pardner, Alivia Ayres-Perry, Samara Lishchynsky and Moriah Zachary breezed to a second place finish in the event. They clocked in at 46.01 seconds which also sits as the fastest time in the Big Sky currently and was just .02 seconds away from tying the school record.
