Four Colorado Mesa home runs leads to it sweep of UNC
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Northern Colorado baseball team finished its two game series with Colorado Mesa Wednesday afternoon, falling to the Mavericks 13-4.
How it Happened
Colorado Mesa jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning with a two run home run from Ben Chamberlin.
UNC would scrap their way back in the second and third with Dean Lawson drawing a bases loaded walk, scoring Brett Minnick to cut the CMU lead in half. In the third, Dan
Reese had a sacrifice fly to left field to bring home Jack Ek.
Mesa would take the lead for good though, in the fifth when Chamberlin doubled to left center to brining in a run, and then later scored on another double.
The Bears would add on runs in the sixth and seventh to get within 6-4, but CMU would score seven runs over the final three innings to none by UNC.
Players of the Game
UNC: Jacob Ek was 2-for-4 in the game, scoring once and also drawing a walk. He was one of just two Bears to have a multi-hit game.
CMU: Ben Chamberlin was perfect at the plate, going 4-for-4 and scoring every time. He also drove in four runs for the team. He had one of the team's four home runs in the game.

The Bears have the weekend off now to regroup and get ready for WAC play. UNC will have on tune-up for the WAC Opener. The Bears will be hosting Regis University on May 22.
