SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The Track and Field squad wrapped up Notre Dame's Meyo Invitational on Saturday with runners once again making marks and breaking records in the program's Top 10 list.
Sophomore Alivia Ayres-Perry qualified for the semifinals in the women's 60m dash after her 7.57 time in yesterday's prelim race. Perry bested 50 other racers to earn a spot in the Top 17. In the semis, the sophomore sprinter came in at 7.70 seconds, which placed her 15th overall.
Junior sprinter, Moriah Zachary added another qualifying time under her belt, this time in the women's 400m dash. Zachary clocked in at 56.43 seconds, outdoing the Big Sky standard of 56.70 in the event.
Zachary is just the third runner to qualify for the event in the conference, and now has the second best time in the league.
The 56.43 seconds also sits as the third best time in UNC indoor history.
Freshman distance runner, Cammy Sargent broke the program's women's 800m record after finishing in a time of 2:12.25, besting Ashley Atkin's record of 2:13.04 set in 2013. Sargent's time qualified her for the Big Sky Indoor Championships in the event and is now the fastest time in the conference.
Sargent finished in 28th overall in the race.
Fellow newcomer, Alicia Thompson came in at 2:13.56 in the same race, putting her name into the records books at the 3rd best time in program history. Thompson's time put in her 34th on the leaderboard.
On the men's side senior sprinter, Jordan Medina just missed on a qualifying time in the men's 400m dash. Medina sprinted to a season-best 49.05 finish, shy of the Big Sky standard of 49.00 seconds.
Sophomore dasher, Alex Wesley finished just behind Medina in the race, coming in at 49.09 seconds.
Medina came in 35th while Wesley placed 37th.
Triple jumper, Francisco Au scored a Top 10 placing for UNC, earning 9th overall after hop, skip and jumping his way to a 14.50m (47-07.00) mark.
