UNC Athletics and Banner Health/NCMC Extend Sports Medicine Agreement

NCMC and Mountain Vista Orthopedic physicians care for athletes.
GREELEY, Colo. (November 8 2016) – UNC Athletics is proud to announce its continued sports medicine partnership with North Colorado Medical Center, a Banner Health facility. A new five-year extension of the existing partnership will begin on September 1, 2017 and continue through August 31, 2022.
The agreement names Banner Health/NCMC as the "Official Healthcare Provider" and "Exclusive Team Physicians" for UNC Athletics.
The five-year deal is valued at nearly three million dollars primarily in Medical support and services provided to all UNC student-athletes through the Banner Health NCMC Sports Medicine program. This includes providing Certified Athletic Trainers in staff positions within UNC's sports medicine department as well as physician support and other medical services. The physicians at Mountain Vista Orthopedics, a Banner Medical Group clinic, serve as UNC's primary team physicians.
"We are fortunate to have the great quality of medical care Banner/NCMC and the Mountain Vista Orthopedics physicians provide for our student athletes," Darren Dunn, Director of Athletics, said. "These medical services and financial support directly impacts our student-athletes and contributes to their positive experience at UNC."
UNC Athletics will provide recognition of Banner Health as the "Presenting sponsor of UNC Athletics" and healthcare partner through video scoreboard messages, signage at athletic facilities, UNCBears.com and social media sites and print materials.
"With over 110 years of service and involvement in the community, it is especially meaningful to have this partnership allowing us to continue providing care to our home town university athletes," said Wendy Sparks, NCMC chief operating officer. "Our athletic trainers and Mountain Vista Orthopedic physicians are highly-qualified and committed to the health and quality of life of UNC student-athletes and residents of the total community."
North Colorado Medical Center is designated one of America's 50 Best Hospitals (2015, 2016) by Healthgrades, an independent rating agency.
