@unco_mbb Makes Pit Stop at Home to Host CCU

GREELEY, Colo. – Northern Colorado men's basketball (0-1, 0-0 Big Sky) will make its final appearance at home for the remainder of the month this Wednesday, Nov. 16 when take on Colorado Christian (2-0, 0-0 RMAC) at 7:00 p.m.

Scouting The Bears (Game Notes)
- Northern Colorado opened the season on the road at Butler. The Bears hung with the Bulldogs throughout the first half, but were outscored 48-21 in the second half en route to an 89-52 loss.
- Sophomore guard, Jordan Davis was the lone Bear to finish in double figures on the night. Davis finished the game 7-of-11 from the field, but did a great job of getting to the free throw line, going 10-of-13 from the charity stripe.
- Northern Colorado had 19 turnovers in the game that resulted in 26 Butler points, while dishing out just 3 assists in the loss.
Scouting The Cougars
- The Cougars are off to a 2-0 start to their season after wins against St. Edwards (93-91) and Dallas Baptist (90-81).
- Wednesdays' contest against UNC will count as an exhibition for CCU, thus will not affect the team's overall record. Colorado Christian played Air Force in an exhibition to open the season, losing by just 10 points, 81-71.
- Junior guard, Ty McGee has done a little bit of everything for CCU in its opening games. McGee leads the team in points, averaging 23.5, rebounds with 7.5, and is second on the team in assists with 5.5 per game.
- Colorado Christian picked up a big time addition to the roster in Colorado transfer, Brett Brady. Brady, in his first season with the Cougars is currently averaging 19.0 ppg, and is an impressive 7-of-11 from three-point land, a 63.6% shooting percentage.
We Got A First Timer Over Here
- Six out of 11 players that saw action last Saturday at Butler were playing in their first ever Division I college basketball game.
- Kyle Carey, Kai Edwards, DJ Miles, Jonah Radebaugh, Mike Ranson and Roberto Vercellino all played 12 or more minutes in their first game as D1 basketball players.
- Out of the six, two earned their first career start at the D1 level. Jonah Radebaugh and Roberto Vercellino were apart of the starting lineup at Butler. Radebaugh played a team-high 30 minutes, while Vercellino led the team in rebounds with five.
Career Day
- Jordan Davis scored a career-high 25 points in the loss at Butler last Saturday. Davis finished 7-of-11 from the field and 10-of-13 at the charity stripe en route to the career night.
- Davis was the only player to score in double figures for the Bears.
- The sophomore guard exited the game early due to cramping, but is expected to be at full health for the game against CCU.
- His previous career-high was 22 points, which he scored at UC-Riverside in the 2015-16 season.
He'll Be Back
- Junior college transfer, Gerad Davis will miss some playing time in the month of November with a leg injury.
- Davis is expected to return in 3-4 weeks, and could return as early Nov. 29 when the team heads to Oklahoma to play the Sooners.
Quite The Lineup
- Counting the game against Butler, Northern Colorado will play three 2015 NCAA tournament teams in the month of November.
- The Bears also have Arizona (Nov. 21) and Oklahoma (Nov. 29) on deck. Arizona fell in the second round, while the Sooners made it all the way to the Final Four in 2016.
Growing Pains
- The Bears hung toe-to-toe with the Bulldogs last weekend in the first half, as the Butler lead never eclipsed more than 13 points.
- At halftime UNC only trailed, 41-31, and if it weren't for missed free throws the deficit would have been much smaller.
- Turnovers hurt Northern Colorado throughout the game as they gave it away 19 times.
- UNC also struggled from the free throw line in the game, shooting just 57.0% at the charity stripe.
