Senior defensive tackle Lexington Smith signed with the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent.
GREELEY, Colo. – The Northern Colorado football team has sent yet another player to the National Football League in defensive tackle Lexington Smith.
Smith signed a contract with the Baltimore Ravens according to The Baltimore Sun and NFL.com. He and the Ravens agreed to terms late Saturday evening according to multiple sources.
As an undrafted free agent Smith is allowed to immediately participate in the team's mini-camps and potentially training camp.
This is the second season in a row the Ravens have signed a member of the Northern Colorado football team. Last year Bears' wide out Jace Davis was picked up as an undrafted free agent by the ball game.
Smith was a four-year starter for UNC accumulating a 199 tackles throughout his career. This past season he earned First Team All-Big Sky and First Team All-Colorado honors.
At the 2015 NFL Regional Combine, Smith put together an impressive workout from a pass rush perspective.
He excelled at the Punch/Swim and Punch/Rip drills and was approached by several scouts after his session. His success at the Regional Combine was one of the key contributors to his new deal with Baltimore.
Smith joins Davis (Houston Texans), former quarterback Seth Lobato (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) and notable wide out Vincent Jackson (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) as the only active UNC players in the NFL.
