UNC took on Sacramento State (7-8, 5-1 Big Sky) on Wednesday, and fell in a hard fought match 4-3.
The Bears were first on the board winning the doubles points behind victories from King and partner Jordan Loughnan (Mudgee, New South Wales) and the duo of Eric Schermans (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and Jacob Sheldon (Sao Paulo, Brazil).
In singles play, the Hornets would take four of the six matches. Gendron and Finerty were the two players for UNC to win their matches.
Gendron had a come from behind victory in the number one singles after dropping the first set 3-6, winning the last two 6-4, 6-2.
Finerty earned his second colligate win with a 6-4, 6-2 decision in the number five singles.
"It was a tough loss after getting up earlier earning the doubles point," said Phillips. "Ben did a great job of battling back today to earn the point after dropping the first set, and we competed well as a team in all of our matches. It will be nice to be home for the next couple weeks and to continue to compete at the level we are playing right now."
UNC returns home for five straight matches, starting on Sunday, March 22 at 10:00 a.m. against Northern Arizona.
