Former UNC baseball manager was named to the 2016 Dugout Hall of Fame Class
DENVER – Former UNC baseball coach and UNC Hall of Fame member John Barnes has been named a part of the Dugout Hall of Fame's 2016 class that will be inducted this coming January.
He was both a player and a coach at UNC. His playing career stretched from 1960-1964 and included three Rocky Mountain Conference Champions and three trips to the College World Series. He returned to Northern Colorado in 1986 as the teams head coach until 1990, earning one NCC title during that time.
Barnes and the rest of his teammates from those 1960-62 teammates that reached the College world series were inducted into the UNC Hall of Fame in 2011.
Besides being at UNC Barnes also coached at the University of Southern Colorado (Now CSU-Pueblo), Northwest Missouri State, and the Greeley Grays.
Joining Barnes in the Dugout Hall of Fame's induction class is Dave Fassioto, Dave Baker, Mick Marsh, Mel Martin, John McClennan, Terry Schiessler and Ed Woyteck.
The Dugout Hall of fame is a part of the Colorado Dugout Club which helps connect all of Colorado's high school baseball coaches and the rest of the Colorado baseball community.
