GREELEY, Colo. – The Northern Colorado women's soccer team heads into Big Sky Conference play, coming off an exciting, 3-2 (2OT) win against Bryant University. The Bears head to Moscow, Idaho squaring off against the Vandals this Friday, Sept. 26 at 5:00 p.m.
Â
The Bears look to continue their high power offense where they lead the Big Sky in shots and corner kicks. Senior forward, Juliana Grover leads a young UNC offense, continuing to build on a so far solid season. Grover's scored three goals and put eleven shots on-goal to help the Bears to a 5-4-1 non-conference start. Northern Colorado will also look to their sophomore duo inPaige Morris and Kassy Castillo, combining for five goals, two assists and 12 points.
Â
"This is a very young team with a lot of freshman playing," said head coach Tim Barrera. "If we can start to finish a little better, we have the right pieces to win this conference."
Â
The Bears have remained defensively sound so far this year, led by the junior duo, goalkeeper Katlin Ruff and defender Adrienne Jordan. Ruff so far on the season has 45 saves and two complete game shutouts. Jordan has been a huge defensive presence and also a threat on offense, recording a goal and assist a piece so far this season.
