Marissa Baca was promoted to the Assistant Director of Compliance on September 1, 2019 after serving as the interim Assistant Director since May 2019. Prior to May she was a compliance intern starting in January 2019. She made the switch to compliance full-time in May after serving two years as the Assistant Women’s Tennis Coach for Northern Colorado.
Baca brings both a coaching and student-athlete’s perspective to the compliance office, having been a member of the women’s tennis team at Northern Colorado from 2013-2017. As a senior in 2016-17, Baca held a 9-13 singles record and played even better in doubles with partner Anna Battersby. The two of them finished 14-4, a team best and went 9-1 in conference play, helping the Bears make it back to the Big Sky Conference tournament. As a junior, she went 9-10 in singles and 9-5 in doubles, finishing the year with the highest duel winning percentage on the team. Baca is also the two time recipient of All Academic Team honors for the Big Sky Conference as a student athlete.
Baca earned her Bachelors in English Liberal Arts with a minor in Spanish in May 2017 and her Masters in Sports and Exercise Science: Sport Administration in December 2018 from Northern Colorado.
