Northern Colorado Head Golf Coach Clayton Sikorski announced on May 29 the promotion of Tina Barrett to Associate Head Coach.
“I’m excited to name Coach Barrett our Associate Head Coach,” said Sikorski. “She’s been a game-changer for our program from day one. Her ability to connect with our players, her eye for talent, and her passion for teaching the game have all made a tremendous impact. Promoting her was an easy decision, and I couldn’t be more excited to continue building with her by my side.”
Since joining the program in July 2024, Barrett has served as the primary coach for the women’s team, quickly establishing herself as a cornerstone of Northern Colorado Golf. Her leadership, energy, and commitment to student-athlete development—on and off the course—have elevated both the competitive edge and culture of the program.
Barrett came to UNC after seven successful years at Ottawa University Arizona, where she led both the men’s and women’s programs. During her tenure, the Spirit captured four Golden State Athletic Conference Championships—two each for the men and women—and numerous postseason accolades. She was named GSAC Co-Coach of the Year following the 2022-23 campaign and was a finalist for the prestigious Dave Williams NAIA National Coach of the Year Award.
Her teams produced a Jack Nicklaus Award Finalist, seven NAIA All-Americans, a GSAC Player of the Year, and multiple Freshman of the Year honorees. Her women's squads alone produced four All-Americans and two GSAC Freshman of the Year recipients.
Before stepping into coaching, Barrett built an impressive 19-year professional career on the LPGA Tour, collecting 53 top-10 finishes including a victory at the 1989 Mitsubishi Motors Ocean State Open. She led the LPGA in driving accuracy in 2006 and recorded three career holes-in-one.
As an amateur, Barrett won the 1988 Maryland State Amateur and the 1987 Eastern Amateur. At Longwood College, she won seven collegiate titles, including the 1986-87 Small College National Championship, and was a four-time NCAA Division II All-American. She also earned NCAA Division I All-American Honorable Mention and was a three-time Academic All-American.
With Barrett now elevated to Associate Head Coach, the Bears continue to build momentum heading into the upcoming season.
