- Became the first wrestler in program history to defeat a No. 1 seed at the Big 12's, beating Northern Iowa and No. 4 nationally ranked, Josh Alber. Sandoval won a 5-3 sudden victory during the first overtime period
- Finished with an 8-12 overall record, wrestling at both 141 and 133 pounds.Â
