Alongside coach Mattio for seven of the last eight years, Camille Perkins will make her way to Northern Colorado from West Texas A&M.
In her first season with the Bears, Perkins played a key role in the team's success and their strong run for a conference title. She assisted them in reaching a overall record of 15-16 and a conference record of 9-11 in the 2021-22 season. She also helped the Bears make a strong run at the Big Sky Tournament where they advanced to the semifinals, beating Eastern Washington and upsetting the No. 1 seed Idaho State in the process.
As the Associate Head Coach for each of the last four seasons and the assistant coach for the three years before at West Texas A&M, the Lady Buffs continued its dominance in the Lone Star Conference. Helping West Texas A&M to its 19th regular-season title in 2019-20, Perkins has been an integral part of the program’s success.
During her time in Canyon, the Lady Buffs were the only school in the nation to reach the Elite Eight three out of the last eight seasons and made the NCAA Tournament in five of the last six seasons. West Texas A&M would’ve made it six in a row were the bracket not trimmed due to COVID-19.
Her guidance also extended into the classroom where the Lady Buffs were honored as a member of the WBCA Division II Team Academic Honor Roll.
A native of Groesbeck, Texas Perkins was an All-LSC player at Angelo State from 2008-2011. Averaging 17.2 points per game. Camille finished as the second all-time leading scorer in program history and set the school record in free throws made (573) and attempts (749).
Perkins would go on to be a graduate assistant with the Rambelles and was eventually promoted to assistant coach in 2013.
