Garrien Johnson is in his first season as Quality Control and Film Coordinator for Northern Colorado. Johnson comes to the Bears from Adams State University where he served as the Graduate Assistant D-Line Coach/Video Coordinator in 2015.
As the defensive line assistant coach at ASU he helped in day-to-day recruiting as well as recruited on the road. He coached his own position group and handled all the teaching responsibilities with players in film and on the field.
Johnson also handled all video functions from the set up of the system to the daily troubleshooting needs of cameras at ASU. He handled the uploading and intercutting of film for review of practices and games. He also oversaw the trading of film to other teams and the coordinating of film responsibilities for every game with the other institutions.
The Sacramento, Calif. native was a top receiver for the UNLV Runnin' Rebels from 2007-08 under head coach Mike Sanford and receivers coach Kris Cinkovich.
Johnson eventually landed amongst the professional ranks with the Harrisburg Stampede of the AIFA, Georgia Force of the AFL, and a camp with the Sioux Falls Storm of the IFL.
As a coach, Johnson served as a defensive backs coach for Bishop Manogue High School in 2014 and a receivers and defensive backs coach for Damonte Ranch High School in 2013.
Johnson has also been active in various football summer camps as a coach for multiple offensive skill positions along with defensive backs at Stanford University, University of Nevada, and Shippenburg University.Â
Johnson holds a Bachelor of Science in Health and Human Sciences from UNLV as well as MBA from Adams State University.
Johnson comes to Greeley with his wife, Tiffany Johnson.Â
