PREVIEW: UNC Volleyball Opens Big Sky Play Hosting Montana and Montana State

GREELEY, Colo. - Following a competitive non-conference slate, the University of Northern Colorado volleyball team turns its attention to Big Sky Conference play this week. The Bears return to Bank of Colorado Arena to open league play at home, hosting Montana on Thursday, Sept. 24, before welcoming Montana State on Saturday, Sept. 26.
Thursday's conference opener against the Grizzlies is set for 6 p.m. MT. Fans are encouraged to join UNC SAAC's Teddy Bear Drive by bringing a new teddy bear or other toy to Thursday's match. All donations will support children in need while helping UNC SAAC compete against SAAC groups across the Big Sky and Big West conferences to collect the most donations.
Saturday's match up against the Bobcats gets underway at 12 p.m. MT on Homecoming and Alumni Day. Both contests will give UNC an early opportunity to establish momentum as they begin the chase for a conference title.

LAST TIME OUT: The Bears are coming off a successful 2-1 home stand at the UNC Volleyball Invite, where they swept Denver (3-0) and fought past Air Force in a four-set victory (3-1) before dropping a hard-fought battle to Utah. Northern Colorado looks to carry that home court energy and toughness directly into the opening weekend of conference action.
THE OPPONENTS: Montana enters Thursday's match up with a 4-8 overall record and a 0-1 mark in Big Sky Conference play. The Grizzlies opened conference action against Montana State on Tuesday, Sept. 22, falling to the Bobcats in four sets.
Montana State comes to Greeley with an 8-4 overall record and a 1-0 conference mark. The Bobcats enter Saturday's match up riding a two-match winning streak, including Tuesday's victory over Montana.
