UNC Volleyball Falls to Utah on Saturday Afternoon

GREELEY, Colo. - Northern Colorado volleyball fell to Utah 3-0 (21-25, 18-25, 16-25) Saturday afternoon inside Bank of Colorado Arena to close out the UNC Volleyball Invite.
The Bears were led offensively by Gillian Walton, who recorded a team-high 10 kills while hitting .500 on the afternoon. Nerea Alvarez Jorge added six kills on eight attempts without an error for a .750 hitting percentage while also posting 19 assists.
Alayna Tessena finished with five kills and four digs, while Kylie Cackovic contributed four kills off the bench. Summer Snead added four kills and a dig for the Bears.
Northern Colorado opened the match with 15 kills in the first set but was unable to overcome Utah's .438 hitting percentage, falling 25-21. The Bears struggled offensively in the second and third sets, recording nine and eight kills, respectively, as Utah closed out the sweep.
Defensively, Bella LePore paced the Bears with 11 digs, while Alvarez Jorge and Tessena each added four digs.
ON DECK: The Bears will now turn their attention to Big Sky Conference play as they prepare to open league action. UNC will host Montana on Thursday, September 24 for a 6 p.m. MT match.
