UNC Drops Final Match to Georgia State at Blue Raider Bash

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Northern Colorado volleyball battled back after dropping the opening two sets, but Georgia State closed out a 3-1 victory over the Bears Saturday morning at Alumni Memorial Gym.
Georgia State took the first two sets 25-9 and 25-20 before the Bears responded with a dominant 25-13 third-set win. The Panthers then secured the match with a 25-21 fourth-set victory.
Summer Snead led the Bears offensively with a career-best 14 kills while hitting an impressive .609 on 23 attacks. Alayna Tessena added 11 kills, two service aces and 10 digs, while Gillian Walton finished with 10 kills.
Nerea Alvarez Jorge directed the offense with 36 assists while also recording 11 digs and four kills. Bella LePore led the Bears defensively with 19 digs, while Tessena added 10 digs and Alvarez Jorge contributed 11.
The Bears found their rhythm in the third set, hitting .444 with 17 kills while limiting Georgia State to just three kills and a -.038 hitting percentage. Northern Colorado finished the match hitting .194 with 49 kills, 43 assists and 55 digs.
