FARMINGTON, Utah – Following the conclusion of the 2025-26 athletic calendar, the Big Sky Conference announced its annual Scholar-Athlete honorees, with two Northern Colorado student-athletes earning recognition.
Women's golfer Timbre Shehee and men's basketball Quinn Denker were honored for their achievements both in competition and in the classroom, capping their careers in the Blue and Gold with a commitment to academic excellence and athletic success.
To be eligible for this award, the student-athlete must have exhausted his or her intercollegiate athletic eligibility and/or be a member of the graduating class, earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2 (on a 4.0) scale, been a participant in a Big Sky-sponsored sport, completed at least two (2) years of intercollegiate competition at the institution, and been a letter winner.
Each full-time member is represented by both a male and female student-athlete, while affiliate members are given one for their respective sports.
Most recently, Shehee was named First Team All-Conference after delivering one of the most impressive seasons in program history. Shehee recorded two runner-up finishes, three top five finishes, six top 10 finishes, and eight top 25 finishes. Highlighting an already remarkable year, she set a new program record for lowest single-season stroke average, further cementing her place among the program's elite. Her best round of this past season was an impressive 67, which showcased both consistency and competitive excellence while maintaining a 3.95 GPA in Economics.
Denker started in 30 games for the Bears in the 2025-26 season and earned unanimous First Team All-Big Sky honors. Led the team with 19.2 points and 7.0 assists per game while adding 5.1 rebounds per contest. He shot 48.6 percent from the field and 81.3 percent from the free throw line. Denker recorded a season-high 35 points against Idaho and dished out a program-record 16 assists versus Sacramento State. He continued his great career at Northern Colorado by breaking the single-season assists record with 211 and helped lead the Bears to a new team single-season assists record. Denker also became one of the top single-season scorers in program history with 576 points and maintained a 3.96 GPA in Sport Coaching.
"Putting together an entire career that would qualify you to be a Scholar Athlete in the Big Sky Conference is an incredibly impressive feat, and all 23 individuals being honored today should be very proud of themselves for what they've accomplished," Commissioner Tom Wistrcill said. "This is a group that has compiled a long list of accolades for their respective sports and are now putting a bow on their stellar careers with a diploma in hand, which is truly what collegiate athletics is all about."
