SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Northern Colorado catcher Sam Pease has been named the Kwik Star Peak Performer of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday, after delivering a great performance in the Bears' weekend series against North Dakota State. The honor marks Pease's first weekly award of the 2026 season.
Pease was a force at the plate throughout the three-game series, batting an impressive .600 (6-for-10) while driving in six runs and scoring five times. He reached base consistently and came through in several key situations, helping spark the Northern Colorado offense against the Bison pitching staff. Pease also added an extra-base hit and finished the weekend with a .700 slugging percentage and a remarkable .692 on-base percentage.
In addition to his offensive production, Pease showcased discipline at the plate, drawing two walks while striking out only once across the series. Behind the plate, the junior catcher was equally dependable, recording 19 putouts and handling the Bears' pitching staff without committing an error.
"Excited for Sam to receive the recognition he's earned after battling a year of injuries. His hard work and devotion towards the team is inspiring" said Head Coach Mike Anderson.
Pease's all-around performance played a major role in Northern Colorado's strong weekend against NDSU and highlighted his impact on both sides of the game to secure the series for the Bears.
