Lombardi Runner-Up in 200 Fly as Bears Finish Eighth at CSCAA NIC

OCALA, Fla. – Northern Colorado closed the 2026 CSCAA National Invitational Championship with a strong final day performance Saturday, highlighted by a runner-up finish from Ellyson Lombardi as the Bears finished eighth overall with 306.5 team points.
Lombardi led the Bears in the pool during the final session, placing second in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:57.88. The swim set a new Northern Colorado school record and earned the Bears a podium finish against a strong national field.
Avi Tromp added another scoring performance for UNC in the 100 individual medley, finishing sixth overall in 55.73. The Aruba native capped a historic week in the pool, breaking five national records for Aruba during the championship.
Northern Colorado also earned points in relay action to close the meet. The Bears finished seventh in the 400 freestyle relay, touching the wall in 3:22.37 to secure additional team points in the final event of the weekend.
With Lombardi's podium finish and multiple scoring swims on the final day, Northern Colorado wrapped up the three-day championship with a top-10 finish, placing eighth overall against a competitive national 46-team field.
