Bears Hold Top-10 Position After Day Two at CSCAA National Invitational Championship

OCALA, Fla. – Northern Colorado continued competition Friday at the 2026 CSCAA National Invitational Championship, recording multiple scoring swims as the Bears remained in the top 10 of the team standings. UNC sits 10th overall with 190.5 points heading into the final day of competition.
The Bears were led by Avi Tromp in the 100 breaststroke, where she finished 10th overall with a time of 1:02.09. Tromp's performance also moved her up one spot to No. 5 all-time in Northern Colorado program history in the event.
In the butterfly events, Ellyson Lombardi scored for UNC with a 10th-place finish in the 100 butterfly, touching the wall in 54.04 to add points to the Bears' team total.
Northern Colorado also scored in relay competition during the evening finals. The Bears placed seventh in the 800 freestyle relay, finishing with a time of 7:21.18 against a deep national field.
UNC opened the evening with the 200 medley relay, finishing 10th overall in 1:41.40.
With two days complete, Northern Colorado remains firmly inside the top 10 among a competitive national field of 46 that includes Ohio State, Kentucky and Rice.
The Bears will wrap up competition Saturday at the CSCAA National Invitational Championship with events including the 100 IM, 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke and 200 butterfly, along with the 400 freestyle relay and distance freestyle events.
