Bears Pull Away from Weber State Behind Big Third Quarter, Hall Reaches 1,000 Career Points

GREELEY, Colo. - Northern Colorado women's basketball used a dominant third quarter and a balanced scoring effort to pull away from Weber State, earning a 55–41 Big Sky Conference win Thursday night at Bank of Colorado Arena.
The Bears (17–7, 8–3 Big Sky) broke open a tightly contested first half by outscoring the Wildcats 21–11 in the third quarter, turning a narrow four-point halftime edge into a comfortable double-digit lead.
Aniah Hall led the way for Northern Colorado with 13 points and five rebounds off the bench, giving the Bears a major lift on both ends of the floor. Tatum West followed with 11 points, six rebounds and three steals, while Neenah George added eight points, six rebounds, four assists and four steals.
Northern Colorado's defense set the tone throughout the night, holding Weber State to just 12-for-46 shooting (26.1 percent) from the field and 4-for-22 from three-point range. The Bears also forced 24 turnovers and converted those miscues into 22 points.
After leading 24–20 at the break, the Bears opened the second half with a surge behind their transition attack and defensive pressure. Erin Powell knocked down a key three during the run, while Heather Baymon and Hall each added fast-break baskets to quickly stretch the margin. Northern Colorado shot 56.3 percent in the third quarter, their best period of the game, to seize full control.
The Wildcats attempted to respond in the fourth, but the Bears continued to defend at a high level and closed the game at the free-throw line to secure the 14-point victory.
1,000-POINT MILESTONE
During Thursday night's win, Aniah Hall eclipsed the 1,000-career point mark at Northern Colorado. The milestone came on a made free throw the fourth quarter marking a significant achievement in her collegiate career and highlighting her consistent impact on the program.
UP NEXT: The Bears will shift their focus for a quick turnaround and prepare to host Idaho State on Saturday February 7. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. MT
