PROVO, Utah – Northern Colorado Volleyball closed out its final match at the BYU Nike Invitational on Saturday afternoon, falling in five hard-fought sets to Wichita State. The Bears battled from start to finish, showing they could compete point-for-point with a talented Shockers squad.
Throughout the match, Northern Colorado displayed stretches of dominant play, using aggressive serving and scrappy defense to keep themselves in contention until the very end. Their resilience and energy, which carried them through multiple momentum swings, highlighted the team's ability to rise to the level of top-tier competition.
This weekend's invitational proved to be a valuable test for the Bears, who matched up against strong programs, including nationally ranked BYU. Despite not leaving Provo with a win, the Bears demonstrated growth, depth, and a level of competitiveness that will serve them well as the season progresses.
Northern Colorado continues its road stretch next week, traveling to San Luis Obispo, Calif., to compete in the UC Santa Barbara Classic tournament hosted by Cal Poly.
The Bears open tournament play on September 11 with first serve scheduled for 7 p.m. MT at Mott Athletics Center.
