San Luis Obispo, Calif. – The Northern Colorado volleyball team showed toughness and determination on the road Thursday night but ultimately fell in straight sets to Cal Poly. Despite the 3-0 loss (25-22, 25-23, 25-18), each set was tightly contested, with the Bears pushing the Mustangs throughout the match.

UNC remained aggressive at the net and steady on defense, displaying the competitive edge that has been a big role in their early season play. Although the outcome didn't swing their way, the Bears' effort and intensity never wavered.

Alayna Tessena led the offense with 13 kills, consistently challenging the Cal Poly front line. Setter Mia Liddiard anchored the floor game with 34 assists, while she and Brynn Reines each added nine digs on defense.

With a quick turnaround, Northern Colorado will shift its focus to its match up against Big 12 opponent Kansas State.

The Bears will take the court Friday night at 8:00 p.m. MT at the Thunder dome in Santa Barbara, California.
