GREELEY, Colo. – The Northern Colorado soccer team wrapped up its non-conference schedule on Sunday afternoon with a 2-2 draw against Missouri-Kansas City at Jackson Stadium. After striking first, the Bears showed resilience and composure to earn the result and build momentum heading into Big Sky Conference play.
The Bears opened the scoring in the first half when Preslie Young delivered a well-placed ball into the box, finding Gabby Ferrante, who found the back of the net to give UNC the early lead.
UMKC responded with a pair of goals before halftime, taking a 2-1 advantage into the break. Despite the setback, the Bears remained composed and came out of the locker room with renewed intensity, controlling much of the second half.
Their pressure paid off in the 85th minute when an own goal by UMKC brought the equalizer, leveling the match just minutes before the final whistle.
With non-conference play in the rear view mirror, Northern Colorado shifts its focus to the Big Sky schedule.
The Bears will kick off conference action at home on Thursday against Sacramento State at Jackson Stadium.
