COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Northern Colorado soccer went on the road Friday evening for a non conference battle with Air Force, putting up a strong fight before falling 3-1 to the Falcons.
The Bears held their own early, trading chances with the Falcons in a tightly contested opening stretch. Air Force broke through in the first half, converting off a corner kick to grab a 1-0 lead.
After halftime, the Falcons added two more goals to extend their advantage. UNC continued to push forward, and their persistence was rewarded in the 80th minute when Taryn Rea buried a penalty kick to put the Bears on the board.
"It was a great environment to play in, they had a massive crowd, but I think we battled well" said Head Coach Tim Barrera. "We got caught with a corner where they ran a pick and got caught on the end lines and they scored off some crosses. It's a quick turnaround for us. We're excited to honor the seniors on Sunday and play a good Kansas City team."
Despite the setback, Northern Colorado showed resilience and created great opportunities against a tough Air Force team.
The Bears now return to Greeley, where they will host UMKC at Jackson Stadium on Sunday at 12 p.m. MT and also recognize the program's seniors.
Updates will be available on the team's social media channels throughout the game and streaming on ESPN+.
