SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Northern Colorado volleyball closed out its West Coast Road trip on Saturday afternoon with a 3-1 loss to UC Santa Barbara. The Bears put up a fight in a competitive match but ultimately came up short, falling by set scores of 25-22, 25-17, 23-25, and 25-23.

UNC showed resilience throughout the match, especially in the third set where it battled back to stay alive and gain momentum. However, the Gauchos edged out the fourth set to secure the win.

Alayna Tessena led the Bears with 16 kills, while Zoe Gibbs added 14. On the defensive end, Bella LePore recorded nine digs to anchor the back court.

The loss drops Northern Colorado to 0-3 on the weekend 2-6 overall, concluding a challenging California road stretch. Despite the results, the Bears showed flashes of strong play and continue to gain valuable experience early in the season.

UNC now turns its focus to the Air Force Tournament, where the team will look to regroup, bounce back, and build momentum heading into the rest of non-conference play.
