Bears Open 2025 Season at Wyoming Invitational

CHEYENNE, Wyo. – Northern Colorado men's and women's cross country opened their 2025 campaigns on Saturday at the Wyoming-hosted 5-kilometer race, gaining valuable early-season experience against some of the region's top programs.
On the men's side, junior Logan Gullet led the Bears with a 25th-place finish in 16:21.85, while Noah Osmond followed in 28th at 16:46.06. Freshman Aidan Kemnitzer (33rd, 17:11.25) impressed in his debut, with Hunter Kenney (35th, 17:32.08) and Noah Mayoral De Anza (37th, 17:42.94) rounding out UNC's top five. Colorado swept the top seven individual spots, led by winner Isaiah Givens (15:01.99).
For the women, freshman Sabina Stroia paced the Bears with a 20th-place effort in 18:57.65, marking UNC's first top-20 finish of the day. Junior Brooke Elfert delivered a strong debut in 24th at 19:17.64, while Claire Nowels (40th, 20:02.85), Ania Magdesian (41st, 20:07.10), and sophomore Jessica Wilson (43rd, 20:15.13) rounded out the scoring five. Colorado's Ella Hagen took the women's individual title in 17:54.34.
Northern Colorado will return to action next weekend at the Woody Greeno Dirksen Invitational in Lincoln, Neb. on September 20.
