Bears Go 1-1 to Kick Off Opening Road Swing
OMAHA, Neb. – The UNC Bears secured their first victory of the 2025 season with a 1-0 win over the Golden Eagles in a neutral-site match up. Junior Lexi Tuite delivered the game-winning goal in the 50th minute, giving the Bears the edge in a tightly contested match.
"Great team win. I was really pleased with our effort in the first half — we created some great opportunities," said Head Coach Tim Barrera. "Our defense stepped up in the second half, and Lexi scored a great goal. Kaya came up with some big saves, and the entire team stayed together to get the win."
Kaya Lindberg recorded 10 saves to lead the Bears to a shutout victory and secure the team's first win of the season.
The win caps off the Bears' opening road trip of the season, where they went 1-0-1. They'll now return to Greeley to prepare for their next match up — a road game at Wyoming on Thursday, August 21 at 4 p.m.
"It was a fantastic weekend," Coach Barrera added. "We earned four points with a win and a draw".
The Bears will be back in action on Thursday, August 21, when they face the University of Wyoming in Laramie, Wyo. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m
