Four Bears Earn Summit League Postseason Honors

Kenny and King Named to All-League Second Team; Wagner and Gienger Collect Honorable Mentions After Standout Seasons
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – A quartet of Northern Colorado Bears received Summit League postseason recognition, as the league office unveiled its 2025 All-League selections Tuesday morning.
Craig Kenny and Jake King were both named to the All-Summit League Second Team, while Kai Wagner and Murphy Gienger earned Honorable Mention accolades for their standout seasons.
Craig Kenny | All-League Second Team | Catcher
Kenny proved to be a steady presence behind the plate and a clutch contributor at the plate throughout Summit League action. The junior catcher started 29 conference games and posted a .297 batting average, collecting 33 hits in 111 at-bats. He added 2 home runs, 2 doubles, and drove in 20 runs while slugging .369.
Kenny also showcased his plate discipline with 12 walks and a .362 on-base percentage. Behind the dish, he tallied 200 putouts and 29 assists with a .974 fielding percentage, catching 10 runners stealing and allowing just 8 passed balls.
Jake King | All-League Second Team | Outfield
King was one of Northern Colorado's most reliable bats during conference play, finishing with a .322 average across 30 Summit games. The outfielder racked up 37 hits in 115 at-bats, including 5 doubles, 1 triple, and 2 home runs, driving in 25 runs.
His .435 slugging percentage and .423 OBP were among the best on the team, and he drew 20 walks while striking out just 27 times. Defensively, King posted a .974 fielding percentage with 72 putouts and two assists.
Kai Wagner | Honorable Mention | Thirdbase
Wagner anchored the Bears' infield and lineup all season long. Starting all 30 Summit League games at third base, he hit .328 with 41 hits in 125 at-bats. Wagner led the team in RBIs during league play with 31 and finished with 7 doubles, 2 triples, and 5 home runs.
The Parker, Colorado native also drew 12 walks and three HBPs, contributing to a .394 OBP and an impressive .536 slugging percentage. Wagner added 33 assists defensively, though he committed 9 errors for an .839 fielding percentage.
Murphy Gienger | Honorable Mention | Starting Pitcher
Gienger was the workhorse on the mound for Northern Colorado, starting 10 Summit League games and tossing 62.0 innings. He led the team with 55 strikeouts and posted a 1-3 record with a 5.81 ERA.
Opponents hit .321 against the junior right-hander, but Gienger's 1.00 WHIP and ability to limit home runs (7 allowed) were among the best on the staff. He recorded one complete game and held runners in check, allowing just 2 stolen bases on 7 attempts.
