Northern Colorado Secures Strong Finish Defeating Top 100 Teams with Strong Performances from Colombine and Shehee
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Northern Colorado women's golf team posted a strong second-place finish at the "Mo" Morial Invitational this week, wrapping up play with its best round of the tournament at the Traditions Club hosted by Texas A&M.
UNC fired a 12-over team score in Tuesday's final round, jumping Abilene Christian and holding off several top teams to secure the runner-up spot with a 54-hole total of 918 (+54). The Bears steadily improved throughout the event, carding team rounds of 311 (+23), 307 (+19), and 300 (+12) over the two-day tournament.
Freshman Samantha Colombine led the Bears with a 10-over total to place sixth individually, her best finish of the spring. Colombine posted back-to-back 75s before closing with a 76 in Tuesday's finale.
Junior Timbre Shehee came on strong in the final round, firing an even-par 72—UNC's lowest score of the week—to finish in a tie for seventh at +11 overall. Shehee's closing round helped anchor the Bears' climb up the leaderboard.
Olivia Salonek finished in a tie for 19th after shooting rounds of 81, 75, and 77 (+17). The sophomore's consistent ball-striking kept her in the top 25 throughout the event.
Jaci Hartman also surged on the final day with a 3-over 75—her best round of the tournament—to finish T35 at +21 overall. Carolina Fallotico rounded out UNC's scoring with a +24 total, tying for 41st.
The runner-up result marks Northern Colorado's best team finish of the 2024-25 season and one of its most complete efforts, with all five players contributing throughout the week.
