GREELEY, Colo. – The University of Northern Colorado Women's Basketball program has announced the addition of guard Heather Baymon to its 2025 roster. Baymon, who began her collegiate career at Texas State, brings an aggressive offensive game and winning pedigree to the Bears, with three years of eligibility remaining.
Baymon made an immediate impact as a freshman for the Bobcats, appearing in 17 games and averaging 9.6 minutes per contest. She scored 4.0 points per game, totaling 68 points on the season. Her collegiate debut was a standout performance, posting a season-high 13 points on 5-of-10 shooting against Eastern Michigan. She also grabbed a season-high four rebounds against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
UNC Head Coach Kristen Mattio praised Baymon's competitive spirit and versatility:
"We are thrilled to have Heather join the UNC family! Heather's winning attitude and competitive mindset really caught our attention. She has a natural scorer's mentality with a strong basketball IQ. Heather is attack-minded and has a knack for putting the ball on the floor and making plays. Not only does she excel at driving to the rim and shooting the mid-range, she can also shoot the three. Heather comes from a strong background of competitive athletes in her own family. Bear fans are going to love the energy that Heather brings to the court for us this next season!"
A high-energy guard, Baymon has the ability to score at all three levels, combining a strong handle with a confident shooting touch. Her competitive background is rooted deeply in her family, with her father a professional golfer, her mother a multi-sport athlete, her brother a former college football player, and her uncle a 10-year NFL veteran.
Before arriving at Texas State, Baymon had a decorated prep career at Langham Creek High School under head coach Annette Steward. She earned Freshman Newcomer of the Year honors and capped off her high school career by being named District 16-6A Offensive Player of the Year during the 2022-23 season. Baymon was also recognized as a TGCA Texas All-Region and All-State selection. She impressed with standout performances, including a 41-point outing and an eight three-point field goal game. In the classroom, Baymon was a consistent high achiever, earning Region 16-6A Academic All-District honors for three consecutive years.
