Northern Colorado Places Four on Academic All-District Team

GREELEY, Colo. – Four Northern Colorado women's basketball student-athletes earned recognition on the Academic All-District Team, the College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced Tuesday. Gabi Fields, Erin Powell, Heather Baymon and Ruthie Loomis-Goltl were honored for their success both on the court and in the classroom.
The CSC Academic All-District program recognizes student-athletes who combine strong academic performance with meaningful contributions in competition. Nominees must hold a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher while meeting specific athletic participation requirements. Each of Northern Colorado's selections exceeded the academic standard, underscoring the program's commitment to excellence in both academics and athletics.
Gabi Fields, a graduate student guard holding a 3.86 GPA from Brownfield, Texas, played a pivotal role as a facilitator for the Bears. She finished tied for third in program history in games played (127) and ranks second in games started (126). Fields is also tied for ninth in single-season games played (34) and tied for fourth in single-season starts (34). Defensively, she sits second all-time in career steals with 259 and ranks fifth in single season assists with 123.
Heather Baymon, a sophomore guard from Phoenix, Arizona, provided a major spark off the bench, helping UNC rank among the top 10 nationally in bench scoring. Baymon posted a career-high 29 points against Montana and knocked down a career-best seven three-pointers in a single game. She also earned Big Sky All-Conference Honorable Mention honors. Baymon holds a 3.61 GPA.
Erin Powell, a sophomore forward from New Hampshire, England, with a 3.74 GPA started all 34 games for the Bears, contributing 144 points on the season while serving as a steady defensive presence throughout the year.
Ruthie Loomis-Goltl, a sophomore forward from Bridgeport, Nebraska, appeared in 31 games, making an impact on the glass and providing a physical presence in the paint on both ends of the floor. Loomis-Goltl holds a perfect 4.00 GPA.
